TreeBones
TreeBones is an eco-glamping experience off of Highway One in Big Sur, California created by the passionate Handy family. More than just a resort, Treebones is committed to the care and preservation of Big Sur through the use of clean energy, organic garden-to-table food, and an overall eco-conscious experience.

Illustration
From this logo style evolved a system of illustrations used throughout my rebrand. Each illustration was inspired by elements of Big Sur that visitors experience during their stay, like Alder trees, Tanok leaves, Valley Oak trees, and other native plants. Like the logomark, these illustrations are drawn with an imperfect charm, designed to evoke a sense of playfulness and fun.

Lookbook
In creating the brand lookbook, I focused on the story of Jayson Fann, the artist behind a human-sized wooden nest that TreeBones guests can stay in. To tell this story, I expanded upon each of my design assets and used them in new ways. Illustrations became frames for images, and images layered ontop of each other as I curated visuals to express Fann’s appreciation of nature. In certain moments, I break the grid with large, abstract images—a move made in the spirit of Fann’s unconventional creative expression.

Through this project, I was challenged to reimagine the visual experience of TreeBones, ultimately creating a system inspired by the rich landscape of Big Sur, the adventurous spirit of TreeBone visitors, and the thoughtful passion of its founders.

Postcards
Creating these postcards furthered my graphic language and identity system, allowing an opportunity to play with type, image, illustration, and color. Through these cards, I was able to clarify how my earthy-toned color palette is applied, how type and illustration interact, and how my logo works small to large scale.

Logo
In creating my logo, I was inspired by the name “TreeBones,” a name given in reference to the vast forest land on the property. it was important not only to depict a tree in my logomark but emphasize the rings within the core of the tree. Although a simple swirl in form, these rings represent and honor the history, strength, and power the trees that enliven the resort.
